The National Survey of Tax and Benefit (NaSTaB) team at the Korea Institute of Public Finance (KIPF) is pleased to announce that English-language data for NaSTaB Waves 1 through 17 is now available.

NaSTaB is a nationally representative longitudinal panel survey. It gathers detailed information on households' tax burdens and the public benefits they receive from the government. It also collects demographic data such as gender and age, and socioeconomic data on assets, consumption and income. The survey aims to support evidence-based research on tax and fiscal policy and to encourage academic research in these fields.

To help researchers outside Korea use NaSTaB, we are releasing the following English-language materials:

● Data files

  - Wave-specific (cross-sectional) files: separate household and household member files for each wave, Waves 1–17

  - Merged longitudinal files: household and household member files that combine all waves (Waves 1–17) in wide format

  - Supplementary history files: employment history and childbirth history data collected in Waves 6–7

● Documentation: user guide, integrated codebook, household and household member questionnaires, and the Wave 17 (2024) basic analysis report

The data files are not attached to this post. Please download them from the dataset pages below. Each page offers four formats, so you can choose the one that matches your statistical software: Stata, Excel (CSV), SPSS and SAS.
