The KIPF was established in 1992 as the first and the only national research organization covering tax in Korea.
Since opening its doors, KIPF has continuously raised its status by publishing numerous studies that contributed to the establishment of major government policies.
Thanks to the trust and encouragement of the public, KIPF has become the best research institute in Korea, with a staff of about 400 and a budget of 53 billion Korean Won, as of 2023.
In addition, as a core research institute under the Prime Minister, we have expanded our research horizons over the past 30 years to include not only the field of fiscal policy, but also that of fiscal performance and management evaluation, state-owned enterprises, government investment analysis, and national accounting and finance statistics.
KIPF has become the best think tank that covers the entire Korean economy.
Going forward, we intend to further strengthen our global capacity with the slogan "KIPF The Best".
In order to do so, we are actively conducting ODA and KSP projects to spread Korea's advanced tax policy and tax administration to countries around the world, including Rwanda, Togo, and Ghana in Africa, Peru in South America, Moldova in Europe, and Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines in Asia.
We also plan to further strengthen our cooperation with international organizations such as the OECD, the World Bank, ADB, IDB and AfDB, etc.
We will become the best global research institute that contributes to the world beyond Korea.
With solid tax and public finance, we open a strong future for Korea. Until everyone gets equal opportunities and enjoys a prosperous life.
